The town of Koukounaris, located on the southwest
of Skiathos is a very picturesque and traditional town, and one
that provides the perfect setting for your holidays here in the
Sporades Islands.
Koukounaris is well known throughout the island for its stunning
beach with the pine trees stretching all the way down to the sea.
Koukounaries is situated just 12km south from the main town of Skiathos.
As well as offering close access to a selection of wonderful beaches,
the town of Koukounaries is also home to the charming and truly
inspirational "Lake Stroufylia" which is situated behind
the main beach of the town. |
Both the beach and lake surrounded by a forest of
tall pine trees. This part of Skiathos is a very important ecosystem
and lake has both salt and sweet waters. The area is also a sanctuary
for birds, wildlife and fauna. All of these elements form to create
a very unique and stunning landscape.
Located to the west of Koukounaries is the famous "banana beach",
which was known as Krasa in the ancient times. This beach is also
extremely popular during the summer months, where visitor from all
over the island come to enjoy the soft sand and clear blue waters.
One can also take part in a variety of watersports in Koukounies,
including scuba diving, as well as renting a boat.
Visitors to Koukounaries will find a lovely selection of tavernas,
restaurants, cafes and ouzeries scattered along the coast and in
the town. Koukounaries is truly a wonderful part of the island of
Skiathos, and visitors here will most likely find themselves wanting
